Let's Do Some DIY! :D

Alright, Let's do some DIY! You might have heard of DIY, right? and you expect that it will be a project, custom designs, people working on it, and so on. Usually, it is done as a hobby or a holiday activity. But, some can be mass-produced and eventually generate profit (like these handicrafts made from water hyacinth). Some people say it's fun, but others say it's a waste of time. But what exactly is a DIY? and is it any good for you?

According to Wikipedia, DIY or Do-It-Yourself is the method of building, modifying, or repairing things by themselves without the direct aid of experts. For example, you made a pencil holder from an empty can. Or you want to add analog speed control to your fan. that is considered a DIY. There are many Do-It-Yourself projects on the internet, from simple ones like making a bookmark to complex project like making a giant RC airplane. The possibilities are enormous, limited only by your imagination and what you have.

And you might wonder, is it any good? Is doing this thing worth it? Yes! There are benefits to doing a DIY project or activity. I'll list them below:

  1. It can improve your creativity and thinking. When you want to make a product or solve a problem, there may be something that you want to have there. This requires brainstorming and being creative to create a product or solution that has everything you want.
  2. You can learn new skills, which can be beneficial in life. DIY teaches you many things, like how to use tools, solve problems, or how to do something properly (like cutting wooden panels. they have a technique for that)
  3. It can bring you contentment. Finishing a project can bring you satisfaction and enjoyment. And sometimes people feel more satisfied if they do it by themselves rather than hiring a professional to do it.
  4. It can save you money. Some things can be cheaper when done by yourself, without compromising the result. If it's not complicated and you don't risk anything, why don't you try to do it yourself instead of paying for a service?
  5. Freedom to have what you want. The available choice in the market is vast. However, that doesn't mean you'll always find something that suits you. Being DIY lets you modify the existing product or even make a new one that suits your needs.
  6. You can make new friends! When you stumbled upon a problem, there might be a forum online that does a similar thing. From asking a question there, you may get new connections and friends.

And that's what you can get from doing a DIY project. What a beneficial activity to do, rather than scrolling through social media timeline the whole day ;) You get new skills, saves money, and maybe have fun with it. Isn't that worth it? And by doing it you have used your time wisely. Next time, when planning a fun activity or what to do on holiday, you may want to consider a DIY :)

Oh, and there will be some crafts here shortly. I'm still thinking of what I want to make. Something simple to start and posted here, so you can also do it if you want. What are your thoughts? Post a comment to let me know!

Cheers! :D
